Due to the near elimination of malaria in Suriname, the microscopists in the hospitals, medical centers and laboratories hardly ever see malaria positives slides. This can result in loss of expertise. To prevent this, and to ensure good quality of diagnosis, the Malaria Program organizes a yearly refreshment course on malaria microscopy. This years course had 20 participants from 11 institutions.
